Playchess.com Rwmerrell (1341) vs. BranislavBecelic (1373)
Playchess.com Game
Two Knights & a Bishop. Pretty solid for a 10 minute game. I was way down on time and slightly worse positionally. Then a discovered attack with check won the Queen. By the end we each had about 30 seconds remaining.Sunday, December 17, 2023
First Win Fritz 19 All Around Dog
A tough opponent. The Dog. All around style. Some hints and one takeback.
Fritz 19 has animal opponents. The dog is the "all around" character. He wasn't very happy with the loss.

Blitz Me? Really?
I decided to give blitz a try. At my age the fast time controls are a real problem. So I was pleasantly surprised to win this one.

Novag Citrine Game 001
This was a 30 minute game. I lost on time. It was pretty even. The Novag surprised me with how well it played. I checked my ideas a few times with Komodo 12 to make sure I didn't blunder terribly. They are my moves so don't blame Komodo for any of this. I used the lichess.com analysis board to create this graphic. The pgn file was created by playing connected to SCID vs PC.

Novag Citrine Game
I want to play some test games against the Novag Citrine. I set it to look only 5 ply deep. So we both made mistakes. I made the last one. Still I got what I wanted. An unexpected game to test my ability to play the Modern Defense. I did ok and will learn from the loss.

I've been on a bit of a losing streak lately. Being locked in the house. I've increased my activity on Chess.com. I've been playing a little reckless at times. In the following game I sacrificed a Bishop on move 19. Followed by a Knight on move 21. Actually the Knight was more of a trap than a sacrifice as I mated my opponent on the next move. I needed this win to make sure I finished in the top three of my first round group. To make it to round two.
